Rundfunkstaatsvertrag: Zahl der Politiker im ZDF-Fernsehrat bleibt vorerst bestehen

Mainz – Im März erst hatte das Bundesverfassungsgericht erklärt, dass mehrere Regelungen des ZDF-Staatsvertrags nicht mit dem Grundgesetz vereinbar sind. Der Einfluss von Politikern auf das Programm müsse eingeschränkt werden, der Anteil von „staatsnahen Personen“ sowie Politikern von derzeit 44 Prozent auf ein Drittel reduziert werden. Dennoch wird die Zahl der Politiker beim ZDF-Fernsehrat vorerst nicht beschnitten.

New underwater volcano discovered in Hawaii

The island of O‘ahu is the leftovers of two volcanoes, Wai‘anae and Ko‘olau. But stretching out nearly 100 km from the western tip of the island of O‘ahu is a sizable region of shallow bathymetry (“submarine topography” or the depths and shapes of underwater terrain), known as the submarine Ka‘ena Ridge, that is the region that has now been identified as a precursor volcano to the island of O‘ahu.

Chilean activist sets fire to $500 mn worth of student debt documents

Chilean activist and artist Francisco Tapia, also known as ‚Papas Fritas,‘ has stolen and burnt $500 million worth of “pagares,” or debt papers. He then uploaded the video onto social media, claiming he had “freed” students by setting the papers alight.

The artist made his claim in a video that went viral on May 12, where he says that debt owed to the Universidad del Mar is now worthless.

At Finland’s initiative, Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with President of Finland Sauli Niinistö.

Mr Putin and Mr Niinistö discussed some aspects of developments in Ukraine. Mr Putin expressed his views on the presidential election planned for May 25, the constitutional reform process, and the contacts that have begun between the Kiev authorities and the regions.

The two leaders agreed to continue discussions of these and other issues, including current bilateral cooperation matters.

At Germany’s initiative, Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with Federal Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel.

Mr Putin and Ms Merkel discussed the situation in Ukraine, including with relation to the presidential election on May 25. They also expressed the hope that the constitutional reform process and the dialogue between the Kiev authorities and the regions, begun in accordance with the OSCE roadmap, will continue.

Seibert weiter: „Es ist bemerkenswert, dass niemand der Teilnehmer aus Politik, Gewerkschaften, Kirchen und Zivilgesellschaft, aus dem Osten, Westen oder Süden des Landes die territoriale Integrität der Ukraine in Frage gestellt hat“. Wichtiges Thema, das dort immer wieder besprochen wird, sei die Dezentralisierung.

Prince Sultan bin Salman was removed from his post as deputy defence minister, a position that he had assumed in August. Prince Khalid Bin Bandar, who served as Riyadh‘s governor, has replaced him. Prince Khalid graduated from the UK‘s Royal Military Academy Sandhurst and has a long military background. This is his first civilian post; he previously assumed top defence posts in the past, including commander of the Saudi Land Force.
