The official, who has knowledge of the case, says commanders ordered 14 officers to lie about what happened. He spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the case. The question is whether the commanders ordered the attack or received instructions from someone else to fire on the Toyota SUV, the official said Monday.

California gets face scanners to spy on everyone at once

At least one law enforcement agency in San Diego is currently using software developed by FaceFirst, a division of nearby Camarillo, California’s Airborne Biometrics Group. It can positively identify anyone, as long as physical data about a person’s facial features is stored somewhere the police can access. Though that pool of potential matches could include millions, the company says that by using the “best available facial recognition algorithms” they can scour that data set in a fraction of a second in order to send authorities all known intelligence about anyone who enters a camera’s field of vision.

Green Party: The U.S. must press Israel not to launch a new war on Gaza; Greens urge an immediate truce and resumption of negotiations

„President Obama and Congress have the clout to stop a repeat of the 2009 Gaza War, in which more than 1300 Palestinians were killed, including 700 civilians, over 300 of them children. Thirteen Israelis were also killed, of whom three were civilians. This is a ‚David and Goliath‘ fight, with nuclear-powered Israel acting in disregard for international law against a dispossessed people living under siege. Israel‘s assaults on Gaza will not make Gazans go away or resolve the conflict,“ said Muhammed Malik, former co-chair of the Miami-Dade Green Party, who recently spoke at the Students for Justice in Palestine National Conference at the University of Michigan. BaBar Experiment Confirms Time Asymmetry

Time marches relentlessly forward for you and me; watch a movie in reverse, and you’ll quickly see something is amiss. But from the point of view of a single, isolated particle, the passage of time looks the same in either direction. For instance, a movie of two particles scattering off of each other would look just as sensible in reverse – a concept known as time reversal symmetry.

Top Ten Myths about Israeli Attack on Gaza

1. Israeli hawks represent themselves as engaged in a ‘peace process’ with the Palestinians in which Hamas refuses to join. In fact, Israel has refused to cease colonizing and stealing Palestinian land long enough to engage in fruitful negotiations with them. Tel Aviv routinely announces new, unilateral house-building on the Palestinian West Bank. There is no peace process.

GERMANS TO THE FRONT

Mr. President: How Do You Define Precise?

I have interviewed many people over the years of doing documentaries. Currently in Pakistan filming with victims of drone attacks (ahead of the film, follow my trip at warcosts.com, Facebook and Twitter), I have never had a more haunting and harrowing experience than looking into the eyes of person after person, children and adults, and hearing them talk about their homes, villages and families destroyed by drone attacks. The pain is palpable, their fear still radiates. And even a question about the CIA sets off terror alerts in peoples‘ eyes.

Feinstein, speaking Sunday on NBC‘s „Meet the Press,“ defended Rice against the accusations that she had deliberately misled the American people – as Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., has previously suggested — and decried what she called the „politicization of a public statement that was put out by the entire intelligence committee.“

In unusual CIA case, FBI detoured from usual path

How the FBI‘s investigation unfolded — especially its decision not to alert the White House, the director of national intelligence or Congress about its discovery of Petraeus‘s sexual affair until Election Day — is under scrutiny, especially because there is no indication so far that any criminal charges will be filed.
