A meeting between the U.S. and Iranian presidents is just about a done deal. That is the growing conclusion in Israel’s security establishment after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s meeting with U.S. Defense Secretary Mark Asper in London Thursday. As always, one caveat must be added: This summit will happen unless the less predictable member of the pair, Donald Trump, changes his mind at the last minute.

Iranian president: First lift sanctions, then let’s talk
Earlier on Monday, Rouhani expressed readiness to negotiate a way out of the crisis following America’s pullout from the nuclear deal.
“If I knew that going to a meeting and visiting a person would help my country’s development and resolve the problems of the people, I would not miss it,” he had said. “Even if the odds of success are not 90% but are 20% or 10%, we must move ahead with it. We should not miss opportunities.”
Despite requests, I have no plans to meet Iranian President Hassan Rouhani. Maybe someday in the future. I am sure he is an absolutely lovely man!

Returning to Nuclear Deal Can Pave Way for Talks with U.S., Tweets Rouhani Ally

Trump says he‘d meet with Iran without preconditions ‚whenever they want‘
„I would certainly meet with Iran if they wanted to meet,“ Trump said during a joint news conference at the White House alongside Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte. „I do believe that they will probably end up wanting to meet. I‘m ready to meet whenever they want to.“
„No preconditions,“ he added. „They want to meet, I‘ll meet, whenever they want.“
