Gabriel zu TTIP: „Verhandlungen mit den USA de facto gescheitert“
Das geplante Freihandelsabkommen (TTIP) zwischen der EU und den USA ist laut Bundeswirtschaftsminister Sigmar Gabriel gescheitert. Der stellvertretende Bundeskanzler äußerte sich dazu in einem Interview mit dem ZDF. Die Verhandlungen mit den USA sind de facto gescheitert, weil wir uns den amerikanischen Forderungen natürlich als Europäer nicht unterwerfen dürfen“, so Gabriel.
Dabei verteidigte der Minister das geplante Abkommen zwischen der EU und Kanada, Ceta. Ihm zufolge wird es oft mit TTIP verwechselt.
Saudi-Arabien gibt König-Fahd-Akademien auf
Saudi-Arabien will sich offenbar stärker gegenüber deutschen Einflüssen öffnen. Die Regierung in Riad wird die umstrittene König-Fahd-Akademie in Bonn, die nach dem saudischen Lehrplan unterrichtet, bis zum Jahresende schließen.
Kritik wurde laut, in der Schule sei zum „Heiligen Krieg“ aufgerufen worden. Auch der Verfassungsschutz beobachtete die Einrichtung und ihr Umfeld zeitweise. Gegen den Bau der Schule in Berlin wurden ebenfalls immer wieder Bedenken geäußert.
U.S.-Armee: Keine Belege über 6,5 Billionen Dollar Ausgaben
Laut einem Bericht vom Generalinspekteur des U.S.-Verteidigungsministeriums („Pentagon“) hat allein die Armee der Vereinigten Staaten von Amerika im Finanzjahr 2015 „nicht angemessen belegte…Anpassungen“ („adjustments“) in Höhe von gigantischen 6,5 Billionen Dollar bezüglich ihrer jahrzehntelangen Ausgaben von Steuergeldern vorgenommen.
Laut dem Bericht verschwanden allein im dritten Quartal des Finanzjahres 2015 mindestens „16.513 von 1,3 Millionen Aufzeichnungen“ („records“) über Ausgaben aus dem Budget-Aufzeichnungssystem des Pentagon („Defense Departmental Reporting System-Budgetary (DDRS-B)“. Das Verschwinden der Aufzeichnungen konnte die Finanzverwaltung des Pentagon, der „Defense Finance and Accounting Service“ (DFAS) in Indianapolis, nicht erklären. Stattdessen erklärte die Finanzverwaltung des U.S.-Verteidigungsministeriums, sie könne nicht einmal dokumentieren wie im eigenen Budget-Aufzeichnungssystem DDRS-B Einträge überhaupt vorgenommen bzw wieder verschwinden würden.

The International Monetary Fund is riding to Egypt‘s rescue. On Friday it announced a three-year loan package of $12 billion, which is expected to be boosted with many more billions from the Arab Gulf states. Egypt, mired in an economic slump with high unemployment and rising inflation, certainly needs the help. But if recent history is any guide, it‘s likely to be good money thrown after bad… IMF officials practically admitted that the new package is mostly cosmetic. The fund and el-Sissi‘s friends in the Gulf need to insist on real reform. Egypt should invest in simple infrastructure such as roads, schools and water-supply systems; make it easier for small and medium-sized business to get bank loans; and break up the military-industrial monopolies in everything from washing machines to olive oil. It also needs to end the crackdown on civil society, and move toward a free and fair presidential election.

However, most of these scenarios were covered by the “fair use” doctrine in the U.S., without which a site such as YouTube may have never been allowed to exist.
