Turkey says US given evidence of Gulen‘s role in coup

Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim warned that further „criminal activity will be forcefully dealt with“, and announced that the United States has been given evidence of the involvement of exiled opposition leader Fethullah Gulen in the failed coup.

In an address on Tuesday before members of his party in parliament, Yildirim denounced the „despicable“ and „cowardly“ coup plotters, whom he said were being „directed by a cleric“ from abroad, referring to Gulen.

PM says Turkey may question friendship with US over extradition of GĂŒlen

Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım said on July 18 that Turkey may question its friendship with the U.S. amid calls for the extradition of U.S.-based scholar Fethullah GĂŒlen after a failed coup attempt.

“Even questioning our friendship may be brought to the agenda here. Nonetheless, our Justice Ministry is conducting the necessary work,” Yıldırım told reporters while speaking at a press conference after a cabinet meeting in the capital Ankara.
