In the weeks following the 9/11 attacks, while she was CEO of HP, current Republican presidential candidate Carly Fiorina complied with an urgent request from Michael Hayden, the director of the National Security Agency (NSA), to redirect delivery of HP servers to NSA headquarters where they‘d be used for warrantless surveillance, according to a Yahoo report.

Hayden asked Fiorina to send truckloads of HP servers intended for retail stores into the hands of federal officials for the secret program, codenamed “Stellar Wind,“ which was approved by President George W. Bush. The program would set a precedent for later NSA initiatives that would grow into the largest domestic surveillance program in U.S. history.

In AT&T’s secret room in San Francisco, a mirror image of all data entering the building is filtered through surveillance equipment supplied and maintained by Narus. Verizon, which controls most of the rest of the country’s domestic and international communications networks, chose a different company. According to knowledgeable sources, that company is Verint. According to these sources, in 2006 Verizon constructed its “secret room” on the second floor of a nondescript two-story building at 14503 Luthe Road in Houston, Texas. Once Verizon receives watch-listed names from the NSA, it then reroutes their Internet communications into that
room, which is packed with secret Verint machines and software. After passing through the Verint hardware, the messages are then transmitted in real time to a central government surveillance hub in Sterling, Virginia.

(08.05.2015) Nachdem der „Untersuchungsausschuss“ des Bundestages gestern wieder einmal alles tat um Theorien der gelernten Hilflosigkeit an sich selbst zu üben, machen wir diesem heute wieder einmal Beine. Und wieder einmal kürzere. Denn offensichtlich scheint es im Feld etwas Verwirrung zu geben: Parlament, Parteien und „Untersuchungsausschuss“ sind bezüglich der Aktivitäten von Geheimdiensten und Regierung keineswegs so ahnungslos wie sie immer tun.

Ganz im Gegenteil.

Back in 2012, WUWT reported on professor Liao’s bizarre human genetic engineering proposals to combat climate change – ideas so crazy even Bill McKibben thought they were stupid. Unsurprisingly, the idea is still circulating, even gaining traction among some radical greens.

(1.Oktober 2015) Scientists are becoming increasingly interested in whether changing ourselves instead of the environment could be the unexpected solution to the world’s biggest problem.

The controversial idea of “human engineering” to lower our impact on the planet was suggested by New York University bioethics professor S Matthew Liao in 2012, who said the concept was “potentially less risky than geoengineering” and “could help behavioural and market solutions succeed in mitigating climate change”.

(14.März 2012) The modifications discussed included: giving people drugs to make them have an adverse reaction to eating meat; making humans smaller via gene imprinting and „preimplantation genetic diagnosis“; lowering birth-rates through „cognitive enhancement“; genetically engineering eyesight to work better in the dark to help reduce the need for lighting; and the „pharmacological enhancement of altruism and empathy“ to engender a better „correlation“ with environmental problems.

(9.Februar 2012) In this paper, we consider a new kind of
solution to climate change, what we call human engineering, which involves biomedical modifications of humans so that they can mitigate and/or adapt to climate change. We argue that human engineering is potentially less risky than geoengineering and that it could help behavioural and market solutions succeed in mitigating climate change. We also consider some possible ethical concerns regarding human engineering such as its
safety, the implications of human engineering for our children and for the society, and we argue that these concerns can be addressed. Our upshot is that human engineering deserves further consideration in the debate about climate change.

Seit 1986 ist Hanning in die Sicherheits- und Geheimdienstwelt involviert. Damals war er bis 1990 Geheimschutzbeauftragter in der Ständigen Vertretung der BRD in Ost-Berlin.
