März 2011) For a week next month, St. Louis County Police Chief Timothy Fitch, along with law enforcement officials from across the United States, will visit Israel to learn how Israel‘s police, intelligence and security forces prevent terror attacks. The weeklong program is part of the Anti-Defamation League‘s (ADL) National Counter-Terrorism Seminar which will include visiting the cities of Tel Aviv, Jerusalem and Tiberias.

(12. August) In a statement, Israeli Foreign Ministry spokesman Yigal Palmor issued a statement dismissing the inquiry.

He cited Israel‘s view that „the Human Rights Council had long ago turned into the ‚terrorist rights council‘ and a kangaroo court, whose ‚investigations‘ are pre-determined.“

Foreign Minister Avigdor Liberman went further than Netanyahu, saying Jerusalem should not allow Schabas to step foot inside the country. Saying “Israel should not cooperate with the committee,” Liberman added: “We must deal with them, but not cooperate or give legitimization to haters of Israel.”

The lull in the fighting between Israel and Hamas has sparked a backlash from soldiers and civilians. Many reservists accused the military of sending them into battle with inadequate equipment and training as well as unclear orders.

“It was complete chaos out there,” a soldier from an elite combat unit who spent two weeks in the Gaza Strip said.
