Syrian President Bashar al-Assad warned during a meeting in Damascus on Wednesday with Iran‘s foreign minister that Saudi Arabia‘s political and religious ideology is „a threat to the world,“ state television reported.

He was referring to Wahhabism, an ultra-conservative Sunni Muslim tradition which is predominant in Saudi Arabia, a key backer of Syria‘s revolt against Assad.

Interior Ministry: 249 MB supporters arrested for disrupting referendum

The ministry released a statement on Wednesday that security forces have seized firearms and bladed weapons, including four machine guns, three handguns, two birdshot guns, a quantity of live bullets and birdshots, two dagger knives and 54 Molotov cocktail bottles, as well as gas masks, respirators, fireworks and a bag containing wood flocks fitted with screws to impede the movement of cars.

The ministry pointed out that the police forces in coordination with the armed forces dealt with power with all attempts to break the law, or to negatively influence citizens.

The graph was produced by the Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Sciences, Center for Science and Technology Policy Research, University of Colorado. See their webpage here. U.S. Newspaper coverage of global warming and climate change peaked in 2006 and 2007 with the release of Al Gore’s “An Inconvenient Truth” and the IPCC/Gore nomination and award of the Nobel Peace Prize. Coverage has been declining ever since.
