Egypt‘s coup and the Saudi opposition

It is ironic that a state claiming to rule according to Islamic principles, Saudi Arabia, fears the rise to power of Islamists — both at home and in neighboring countries. One regional Islamist trend worries the Saudi leadership, the Muslim Brotherhood which has decided to engage in politics through elections and the democratic process.

Saudi legitimacy is based on an appropriation of Islamic symbols such as claims that „our constitution is the Quran“ and the application of sharia.

A night in the jungle

It was a very horrible night in which I saw two sides of Egypt. A dark side of the police, army and thugs, who kept firing all day on protesters (even the army used helicopters to attack them), and in the night kept chasing people in streets attacking and killing on identity and suspicion. I also saw a bright side, of young people standing firmly for the cause of freedom and against tyranny even if this cost them their lives, and normal people who answered the call of humanity protecting strangers in trouble and hosting them at their own homes.

Police kill 36 in prison truck

The prisoners, were captured during the fierce fighting in recent days, where the death toll has now reached 900. They were part of a truck convoy of some 600 people heading to Abu Zaabal prison in northern Egypt, according to the police.
