A test motorcade carrying cargo has been sent from Afghanistan’s western province of Herat, to be delivered by land through Turkmenistan and the Caspian Sea to Azerbaijan, Trend reports citing a source close to the transport industry of Turkmenistan.
President of Afghanistan Mohammad Ashraf Ghani took part in the launching ceremony of a transport corridor allowing Afghanistan to enter global markets bypassing the traditional Pakistani direction.
Scaparrotti, NATO’s supreme allied commander and head of U.S. European Command, will meet Russia’s defense chief Gen. Valery Gerasimov in Baku, Azerbaijan, in order “to promote military predictability and transparency,” said Lt. Col. Virginia McCabe, a spokeswoman for Scaparrotti.

During the visit, the guests got acquainted with the Baku Cargo Terminal located at Heydar Aliyev International Airport. Terminal building‘s total area is 25,000 square meters making it the biggest and most technically advanced cargo terminal in the CIS. The Baku Cargo Terminal is a link for the transportation of goods between the US and Asia… According to him, the US highly appreciates the contribution of Azerbaijan to cooperation in the field of security, including peace-support operations in Afghanistan.
