A Prayer for Yom Hashoah
Oh, Spirit of mercy,
whose presence dwells
in the highest heights
and the darkest depths:
Shelter the souls
of all who were oppressed and murdered
during the years of the Shoah.
May the memory of those who were
singled out, persecuted and destroyed
be sanctified for goodness
and for peace:
Jews, gays, lesbians
and political dissidents;
communists, socialists,
labor leaders and Soviet prisoners of war;
resistance fighters, Roma,
Freemasons and Jehovah’s Witnesses;
the disabled of mind and body;
the homeless, the unemployed
and the unwanted…
May all who were once left vulnerable
remain protected beneath the soft wings of your presence
that they may rest in peace.
Spirit of Compassion,
help us to mourn their loss in such a way
that our fears and our hopes will become indistinguishable
from the fears and the hopes of all who are oppressed.
Help us turn isolation into wholeness,
division into fellowship
and bitterness into healing waters of liberation
for all humanity.
Amen.

War and Natural Gas: The Israeli Invasion and Gaza’s Offshore Gas Fields
Global Research, August 10, 2014
Global Research 8 January 2009
More than five years ago, Israel invaded Gaza under “Operation Cast Lead”.
The following article was first published by Global Research in January 2009 at the height of the Israeli bombing and invasion under Operation Cast Lead.
In the wake of the invasion, Palestinian gas fields were de facto confiscated by Israel in derogation of international law
A year following “Operation Cast Lead”, Tel Aviv announced the discovery of the Leviathan natural gas field in the Eastern Mediterranean “off the coast of Israel.”
Leviathan gas field
The Leviathan gas field is a large natural gas field located in the Mediterranean Sea off the coast of Israel and the Gaza Strip, 47 kilometres (29 mi) south-west of the Tamar gas field.

(20.12.2015) News of the accord was first reported last night on Israel‘s Channel 10 news. The understandings include plans to open talks on selling Israel‘s gas to Turkey and the laying of an undersea pipeline in the Mediterranean.
Putin Plays “Energy Chess” with Netanyahu
(4.5.2016) Washington wants to force a political reconciliation between Netanyahu and Turkey’s Erdogan, including a deal in which Turkey would become a major buyer of Israeli offshore gas, making major purchase agreements from Leviathan. For Washington that would reduce Turkish dependency, today more than 60%, on imports of Russian gas. In return Israel would agree to sell Turkey advanced Israeli military equipment with Washington approval.
Russia‘s Gazprom eyes Leviathan gas investment
(25.4.2016) Now that the Israeli gas industry is in its poorest position in a long time (dependent on a single reservoir, with the gas plan having stalled, a global gas glut, and plunging global oil prices), it appears that Putin is trying his luck again. Russia‘s oil and gas revenues account for 50% of the country‘s income (45% from oil and 5% from natural gas), but for Putin, a stake in an Israeli gas reservoir is a strategic-geopolitical issue, not an economic one.
Netanyahu Says He Got Russian Assurances Over Syrian Threat
(20.4.2016) He repeated his April 17 declaration that Israel will never give up control of the southern section of the Golan Heights, which it captured in the 1967 Middle East war. Netanyahu also said he was invited back to Moscow for a June 7 visit marking 25 years since the two countries established diplomatic relations.
Expert Discusses Putin‘s Leviathan Interest
(29.10.2015) NGE: How do we have to treat Mr. Putin‘s new initiative to involve Gazprom in the Israeli natural gas industry?
OE: One mustn’t accept this as a threat. I don’t think it sounds as a threat. It is a Russian attempt to say that beyond the economic interest we can add another positive consideration. However from clear strategic circumstances Israel shouldn’t consider that proposal. The interest of the Russians in [Israeli] gas is well known. I think that Israel‘s response to the proposal to secure Israeli gas facilities should be „no, thank you, we‘ll manage ourselves.“ I would make a distinction between Putin‘s proposal that if it would be accepted, will entangle us with the Americans and Europeans, and therefore, to say the least, will not be accepted. However if Israel will not have other options [to develop its natural gas assets] it will have to consider an engagement with
a Russian entity for the development of Leviathan.

IDF Deputy Chief Likens ‚Revolting Trends‘ in Israeli Society to pre-Holocaust Germany
„If there‘s something that frightens me about Holocaust remembrance it‘s the recognition of the revolting processes that occurred in Europe in general, and particularly in Germany, back then – 70, 80 and 90 years ago – and finding signs of them here among us today in 2016.“
IDF general in bombshell speech: Israel today shows signs of 1930s Germany
„The Holocaust, in my view, must lead us to deep soul-searching about the nature of man,“ Golan said. „It must bring us to conduct some soul-searching as to the responsibility of leadership and the quality of our society. It must lead us to fundamentally rethink how we, here and now, behave towards the other.“
„There is nothing easier and simpler than in changing the foreigner,“ the officer said. „There is nothing easier and simpler than fear-mongering and threatening. There is nothing easier and simpler than in behaving like beasts, becoming morally corrupt, and sanctimoniousness.“
‘My conscience bothered me’: Army captain sues Obama over ‘illegal war’ on the Islamic State
(4.5.2016) The Constitution grants only Congress the authority to declare war, and the War Powers Resolution limits the president’s ability to deploy forces into hostile situations for more than 60 days without congressional approval, Smith argues. As a result, he was conflicted about the engagement.
