NASA’s Hubble observations suggest underground ocean on Jupiter’s largest moon
NASA’s Hubble Space Telescope has the best evidence yet for an underground saltwater ocean on Ganymede, Jupiter’s largest moon. The subterranean ocean is thought to have more water than all the water on Earth’s surface.
Creditors’ proposal to Greece: “Do not pay salary & pensions for 1-2 months”
Liquidity problems? Greece’s official creditors had a genius idea. They apparently proposed to Athens to halt the payment of salaries and pensions for one to two months. This would allegedly tackle the problem of liquidity and find a solution to Greek problem of how to pay back bailout loan tranches to creditors when suffering from liquidity problems.

Lithuania says will not renew CIA prison parliamentary enquiry
Lithuania‘s parliament will not hold another parliamentary inquiry into alleged CIA prisons in the Baltic country after the U.S. Senate published a report on torture, the speaker of the parliament said on Friday.
Years Of Brainwashing The Public Into Thinking Everything Creative Must Be ‚Owned‘ Has Led To This New Mess
We have already written about the ridiculousness of a jury awarding over $7 million from Pharrell Williams and Robin Thicke to the children of Marvin Gaye, because their song „Blurred Lines“ sounds kinda (but not really) a bit like Gaye‘s „Got to Give it Up.“ The ruling is problematic on multiple levels, as many commentators are just now realizing. Copyright lawyer Fred von Lohmann pointed out that, technically, everyone who bought copies of „Blurred Lines“ is now infringing as well — and that could apply to many others too, including Weird Al who famously did a hilarious parody of „Blurred Lines“ called „Word Crimes.“ Weird Al, somewhat famously, makes sure to get permission to do his parodies, even though he could probably just use fair use. But… if „Blurred Lines“ is infringing, there‘s no fair use argument to be made and Weird Al doesn‘t have permission from the Gaye Estate.
In other words: what a massive mess.
Japan, France sign defense pact to spur cooperation, joint development

FBI Hasn‘t Read Full Torture Report; Says There‘s Nothing To Learn From It
The FBI is pretty much a rogue agency at this point, at least if the DOJ‘s Office of the Inspector General‘s growing concerns about stonewalled investigations and improperly withheld documents are any indication. But there‘s one government agency it considers too ill-behaved to associate with: the CIA.
Netanyahu flails against int’l conspiracy, as liberal Zionists seek orange revolution against ‘fading strongman’
Israel’s illusion that it is at the center of the known universe is now shared by a lot of American commentators. The mood is even more intense because liberal Zionists sense a historic election in which Benjamin Netanyahu goes down and is replaced by the center-left.

But with some of the crimes under investigation set to reach their statute of limitations in August, the officials said that they had changed their minds, and that they had also asked for permission to take a swab of DNA from Mr. Assange.

The real existential threat to Israel
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s speech to the U.S. Congress on Tuesday brought the humbug that has characterized all the candidates in this election to a climax. All of them are ignoring the real existential threat to Israel and its ability to survive as a “Jewish and democratic state”: the unending occupation of the territories. Israel’s insistence on ruling over millions of Palestinians in the West Bank who lack civil rights, expanding the settlements and keeping residents of the Gaza Strip under siege is the danger that threatens its future.

In recent months he’s gone from Superman to SuperSchlemiel, from political wizard to serial bungler, as he was known before he first lost power.
Ayman Odeh Predicts 15 Seats for “Joint List” in Next Knesset
Tell me a little about your background and why you got into national politics?
Odeh: I was a member of the Haifa City Council when I was 23 years old, which made me the youngest city councilman in Israel. When I began my political career, I identified with Malcolm X. After two or three years, I evolved — and not to a small degree — because of my service on the council in the city of Haifa, which is the most liberal multicultural yet homogenous city in Israel.
As a result of that experience I was transformed from being someone who believed that either the Jews or the Arabs could survive here, to someone who thought that Arabs and Jews must work together. I began to feel that I must now follow in the footsteps of Martin Luther King, who believed in working together.
Center-left opposition rides a solid lead into Israeli election
With the Joint Arab List expected to win 13 to 15 seats, it has become an important player in the election – it could end up being the third largest group in parliament, giving a powerful voice to Israel‘s 20 percent Arab minority.
Große Koalition: SPD-Chef Gabriel gibt Wahl 2017 de facto verloren
