Republicans More Offended By Vatican Embassy ‚Closure‘ Than The Vatican

The United States announced this week that it‘s re-locating its Vatican embassy into a shared compound with the embassy in Italy, a move that was brushed off as no big deal by the Holy See. But for Republicans stateside, it was just the latest „anti-religion pursuit“ by the Obama administration.

As Homeless Line Up for Food, Los Angeles Weighs Restrictions

They began showing up at dusk last week, wandering the streets, slumped in wheelchairs and sitting on sidewalks, paper plates perched on their knees. By 6:30 p.m., more than 100 homeless people had lined up at a barren corner in Hollywood, drawn by free meals handed out from the back of a truck every night by volunteers.

Without Reagan‘s Treason, Iran Would Not Be a Problem

… And while there is no proof that Republican Senators are secretly asking Ayatollah Khameini to violate the terms of this weekend‘s nuclear deal, their obsession with slamming Iran with more sanctions is just as dangerous. We know what happened the last time a deal with Iran fell through because of Republican sabotage. Who knows what could happen this time?

A long-term Iranian nuclear deal would be a once in a generation chance for the United States to rethink its foreign policy. President Obama should go for it. But he should watch his back. Because if history tells us anything, it‘s that Republicans are more than willing to betray their country for a little short-term political gain.

In memory of Silvio Berlusconi

I would be really pleased if I could say that we are about to see the collapse of a regime. But it’s not like that. Not yet.
It’s simply the end of one banal man for all seasons, someone who, in the last two decades, has been of use to both the colossal Anglo-American financiers and to the Soviet KGB, passing by the Vatican State, the Troika, Iran, Israel, Saudi Arabia, the Arab Emirates, Libya, and the entire international banking system. The world has always been full of people like that.

How Amnesty International was Played by the Egyptian Junta

On 2 August 2013, Amnesty International issued a press release which said that evidence, including testimonies from survivors, indicated that supporters of ‘deposed President Mohamed Morsi’ at the Raba’a al-‘Adawiyya and at the Nahda protest camps tortured and killed individuals from ‘a rival political’ group.

EU says won‘t suspend data sharing accords with U.S.

The move marks an abrupt about-turn for the European Commission, the EU executive, after warnings it issued in July to U.S. officials following revelations that Washington had spied on European citizens and EU institutions.

Cecilia Malmstrom, the EU‘s commissioner for home affairs, said she had found no proof of U.S. wrongdoing..
