The past few years have seen Mildenhall’s mission focus turn increasingly toward Africa, working with operations such as Mali and Libya. An official said the addition of personnel and aircraft did not necessarily mean more missions for the 352nd.

Verizon Rewarded for Records Release With $10 Billion Government Contract
Verizon’s willingness to give the federal government unfettered access to its customers’ phone records is paying off handsomely for the telecommunications giant.
Verizon announced on August 16:
The U.S. Department of the Interior has selected Verizon to participate in a $10 billion, 10-year contract to provide cloud and hosting services. This is potentially one of Verizon‘s largest federal cloud contracts to date.
Obama has not delivered on May’s promise of transparency on drones
In fact, since May, the White House has not officially released any new information on drone strikes (though leaks still abound). While NSA surveillance has taken center-stage, the government’s policy of secrecy and obfuscation on drones persists, too. Past critics of the drone program – ranging from Senator Rand Paul (Republican, Kentucky) to Senator Ron Wyden (Democrat, Oregon) – should take notice. It is time to renew and expand the demand for answers about who is being killed.
Ecuador’s president denounces Chevron as ‘enemy of our country’
The case is still alive and Correa says the company has spent $400 million and hired an army of hundreds of lawyers to discredit the government and get the ruling overturned on appeal in the country’s highest court.

Egypt’s disastrous bloodshed requires urgent impartial investigation
On 15 August, Amnesty International researchers visited the Iman Mosque, which was converted into a makeshift morgue after family members brought in relatives killed in the Rabaa al-Adawiya sit-in, as well as some of those evacuated from Rabaa al-Adawiya hospital.
At the time of the visit, there were 98 dead bodies inside, among them eight charred corpses – it is unknown whether they were burnt alive or after dying. Lists with names of 265 people had been hung on the mosque’s walls. Volunteers said that two more unidentified bodies had been brought in.

Analysis: As Obama dithers, the region is spinning out of control
“Every year, the U.S. Congress appropriates more than $1 billion in military aid to Egypt. But that money never gets to Egypt. It goes to the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, then to a trust fund at the Treasury and, finally, out to U.S. military contractors that make the tanks and fighter jets that ultimately get sent to Egypt,” begins an illuminating report aired on NPR last week.
Many of the M1A1 Abrams tanks that the United States sends to Egypt never make it out of the warehouse, insists Shana Marshall of the Institute of Middle East Studies at George Washington University.

Spies Are Reading My Blog
I should be gigging in New Zealand now but I am not
I‘m stuck at Narita instead
I should be singing in Dunedin, smoking kiwi pot
And chilling with the kiwi reds
But when I showed up at the airport to board my flight
I was handed somebody‘s cell phone
Suddenly the future didn‘t look so bright
And I entered the Twilight Zone
The woman on the line said hello
I‘m from Immigration
You may have a ticket but you can‘t go
To our great island nation
I felt like I‘d been hit in the face
With a big old kiwi log
But then I felt the Stasi‘s cold embrace
When she said I‘ve been reading your blog
The spies are reading my blog The introduction and the prologue
And if that‘s so, it just might be true That they‘re watching this video, too

Anti-Coup Alliance Statement on ‘Friday of Anger’ Murderous Crimes by Coup Commanders
These barbaric atrocities also prove that the coup has been broken, and that the putschists have no alternative but to admit defeat and act accordingly. The will of the people cannot be defeated.
The Anti-Coup, Pro-Legitimacy National Alliance holds the coup commanders and collaborators fully responsible for these horrid crimes. The Alliance also appeals to all human rights organizations and all free and honest people in the world to condemn these crimes and seek to stop the bloodshed and loss of innocent lives.
The Alliance reiterates its continued commitment to peaceful protest in all its activities. Our peacefulness is stronger than their bullets.
‚There Have Been Some Compliance Incidents‘: NSA Violates Surveillance Rules Multiple Times a Day
The Washington Post reported last night that the NSA has been violating restrictions on surveillance powers thousands of times a year. My first reaction was that the revelation was „jaw-dropping,“ and that‘s my second reaction, too. The rules around government surveillance are so permissive that it is difficult to comprehend how the intelligence community could possibly have managed to violate them so often.

ETITION: Ask Members of the European Parliament to put a stop to Canada-EU corporate rights deal
Stephen Harper is desperate to sign a Canada-European Union CETA – the farthest reaching trade deal Canada has ever been a part of – at any cost. He’s negotiating it in secret with no public debate, so we won’t know what Harper has auctioned off until it’s too late.
Despite the secrecy, we have leaked CETA chapters showing it will go even further than NAFTA in giving corporations the “right” to profit by letting them sue governments for environmental, public health or other public policies they don’t like. It is proof that CETA will benefit corporations by undermining people and communities.
Texas Police Hit Organic Farm With Massive SWAT Raid
Members of the local police raiding party had a search warrant for marijuana plants, which they failed to find at the Garden of Eden farm. But farm owners and residents who live on the property told a Dallas-Ft. Worth NBC station that the real reason for the law enforcement exercise appears to have been code enforcement. The police seized „17 blackberry bushes, 15 okra plants, 14 tomatillo plants … native grasses and sunflowers,“ after holding residents inside at gunpoint for at least a half-hour, property owner Shellie Smith said in a statement. The raid lasted about 10 hours, she said.
US media silent as CIA drones kill Yemenis
The American mainstream media remain largely silent as the CIA is pounding Yemen with drone strikes killing at least 49 people in two weeks, says political analyst and writer Linh Dinh from Philadelphia.
“Under the cover of the ‚War on Terror‘, the US has been very busy killing many Yemenis by drones, 49 in the last two weeks alone, but these deaths are thoroughly ignored by the American media,” Dinh told Press TV on Saturday.
“As in Pakistan, drone strikes in Yemen routinely kill civilians, even infants,” he added.
Egypt‘s Junta Has Nothing to Lose
The appointment of Robert Ford as the new American ambassador to Egypt was indeed an ominous sign that the Obama administration expected civil war conditions to arise in Egypt. Ford’s forte during his hugely successful “diplomatic’ assignment in Baghdad in the middle of the last decade was to organize the notorious death squads, which tore Mesopotamia apart and destroyed Iraq almost irreparably.
US government targeting Egypt for destabilization, eventual destruction?
(12.8.2013) The recent appointment of death squad organizer Robert Ford as US Ambassador to Egypt suggests as much.
Ford’s appointment sends a clear message: US policymakers want to destroy Egypt in the same way they have destroyed Iraq and Syria – by using death squads and false-flag terror to incite civil war.
US ambassador to Egypt to become Deputy Secretary of State
(2.8.2013) Patterson had invited the ire of political powers in Egypt, as the Muslim Brotherhood‘s Freedom and Justice Party and Tamarod movement accused her of being partial to different groups.

Presidency says its war is on terrorism
He also dismissed reports that the government is encouraging popular committees to support the police and the Armed Forces in its fight against the Muslim Brotherhood. „Civilian help outside the scope of the rule of law is not accepted. Anything that is not done through the police and the Armed Forces is not something we accept,“ he said.
