Police Clash with Protesters in Jerusalem, 100,00 Protest Across Israel

On Sunday afternoon, thousands of protesters streamed toward Jerusalem’s Azza Road from the direction of the Knesset, many of them carrying tents they planned to set up as part of an overnight protest encampment near Netanyahu’s residence on the busy street. Holding flags and bullhorns, demonstrators blew horns, chanted slogans and held pictures of hostages they called to put and end the war in Gaza.

Earlier, Efraim Davidi, a leading member of the Communist Party of Israel and former member of the Histadrut leadership told the crowd at Azza Street, “All economy, factories, ministries and municipalities, schools and universities must go on general strike until the fall of the far-right and racist government”. “A government that refuses to stop the bloodshed in the deadly war in Gaza, to obey the law and the return of the hostages is dangerous and must be stopped now.” Speaking in front of thousands of protesters in Jerusalem, Davidi urged the country to mobilize “right now against the government’s actions.”
