US Secretary of State John Kerry said on Tuesday the United States had made „no determinations“ about any possible UN Security Council resolutions on Palestinian statehood.

(24. August 2009) Am 4.August veröffentlichte der investigative US-Journalist Jeremy Scahill Auszüge aus zwei Zeugenaussagen ehemaliger Angehöriger von Blackwater veröffentlicht. Die Zeugen beschuldigten in eidesstattlichen Aussagen vor einem US-Bundesgericht in Virginia den Gründer und uneingeschränkten Herrscher des Blackwater-Konzerns, Erik Prince, u.a. verantwortlich für mehrere “Tötungen unter verdächtigen Umständen” an Personen im Konzern zu sein, welche der Justiz in laufenden Gerichtsverfahren gegen Blackwater (heute “Xe Services LLC”) wegen Kriegsverbrechen im Irak als “whistle-blower” Informationen zur Verfügung stellen wollten.

Die Zeugen, einer aus dem Management Blackwaters, ein anderer Söldner im Kriegseinsatz in Irak, zeichneten das Bild ganz normaler rassistischer Killer. Von Anfang an sei es Prince und den “Angestellten” Blackwaters im Irak darum gegangen, möglichst viele Iraker umzubringen. Diese sprachen offen darüber in den Irak zu gehen um “Hatschies auf dem Präsentierteller serviert zu bekommen” (”lay Hajiis out on cardboard”). Das Erschiessen von Irakern sei als Sport und Spiel gesehen worden, Iraker oder andere Araber seien ständig und öffentlich mit rassistischen Begriffen wie “Hatschies” oder “Lumpenköpfe” bezeichnet worden.

Zeuge 2 (aus dem Management Blackwaters) zufolge habe sich der Kopf des Unternehmens, Erik Prince, selbst als

“christlicher Kreuzfahrer gesehen, mit der Aufgabe Muslime und den islamischen Glauben vom Erdboden zu tilgen”.

Blackwater-Chef Prince habe Blackwater habe

“die Zerstörung von irakischem Leben gefördert und diese belohnt”.

Waffen, offensichtlich nicht nur für die eigene Söldnerarmee, wurden durch Blackwater mit den eigenen Flugzeugen einfach nach Belieben in den Irak gebracht. Dieses Jahr tauchten dann u.a. US-Waffen auf türkischem Territorium bei der kurdischen Guerilla PKK auf. Blackwater hinterzog Milliarden von Steuern, vernichtete Beweise, handelte zumindest während der Amtszeit Donald Rumsfelds als Pentagon-Chef praktisch unter Immunität und zeigte alle Anzeichen eines Staates im Staate.

Passend dazu das Budget: eine Milliarde bekam der Kriegskonzern offiziell von der Regierung in Washington, Nebeneinkünfte durch Schmuggel, Waffenhandel und ähnliches nicht mitgerechnet. Dabei arbeitet Blackwater alias Xe noch heute für die Obama-Regierung und sorgt in Afghanistan sowohl für die Sicherheit der dortigen “Diplomaten”, als auch für Attentate. Ein interessanter Zusammenhang.

Ein SpOn angeblich plötzlich zugespieltes “Memo” besagt in merkwürdig übersetztem Englisch:

“Die CIA heuerte Blackwater an, um Attentate in Afghanistan zu verüben”

Nun ist die Frage: auf wen verübt man denn Attentate (unter Oberbefehl des Weissen Hauses) in der eigenen Besatzungszone (unter Oberbefehl des Weissen Hauses)? Und warum?

(17.08.2009) Doe #2 alleges in a sworn declaration that, based on information provided to him by former colleagues, „it appears that Mr. Prince and his employees murdered, or had murdered, one or more persons who have provided information, or who were planning to provide information, to the federal authorities about the ongoing criminal conduct.“ (…)

Mr. Prince operated his companies in a manner that encouraged and rewarded the destruction of Iraqi life. For example, Mr. Prince‘s executives would openly speak about going over to Iraq to „lay Hajiis out on cardboard.“ Going to Iraq to shoot and kill Iraqis was viewed as a sport or game. Mr. Prince‘s employees openly and consistently used racist and derogatory terms for Iraqis and other Arabs, such as „ragheads“ or „hajiis.“

(22.08.2009) Auch bei einer anderen brisanten Aktivität der Bush-Jahre hat Blackwater den Geheimdienst unterstützt, heißt es in dem Memo: „Die CIA heuerte Blackwater an, um Attentate auf Ziele in Afghanistan zu verüben.“ Erst im Juli hatte der neue, von Obama eingesetzte CIA-Chef Leon Panetta den Parlamentariern in vertraulicher Sitzung von einem „Tötungsprogramm“ berichtet, das vor acht Jahren gestartet wurde.

(11.07.2009) The Central Intelligence Agency withheld information about a secret counterterrorism program from Congress for eight years on direct orders from former Vice President Dick Cheney, the agency’s director, Leon E. Panetta, has told the Senate and House intelligence committees, two people with direct knowledge of the matter said Saturday.

The report that Mr. Cheney was behind the decision to conceal the still-unidentified program from Congress deepened the mystery surrounding it, suggesting that the Bush administration had put a high priority on the program and its secrecy.

(02.03.2009) The tapes had been held in a safe at the C.I.A. station in Thailand, the country where two detainees — Abu Zubaydah and Abd al-Rahim al-Nashiri — were interrogated.

The filing of the documents, submitted to a court in New York as part of a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit brought by the American Civil Liberties Union, came as federal prosecutors were wrapping up the investigation into the matter.

(02.03.2009) Government officials have said the tapes were destroyed in November 2005 at the orders of Jose Rodriguez, then head of the CIA‘s National Clandestine Service, with the approval of NCS lawyers.

In the campaign against al-Qaeda, several senior leaders in the organization were captured by the CIA in 2002. They were subjected to what has been described as torture or enhanced interrogation techniques, according to the U.S. government. The interrogations of two of the key leaders were videotaped.

In 2005, while head of the Clandestine Service, Rodriguez ordered that videotape recordings of two 2002 CIA interrogations be destroyed. CIA officials initially stated that the recordings were destroyed to protect the identity of the interrogators, after they were no longer of intelligence value to any investigations. “He would always say, ‘I‘m not going to let my people get nailed for something they were ordered to do,’” said Robert Richer, Rodriguez’s deputy recalling conversations with his boss about the tapes. It was later revealed that the deputy to Kyle “Dusty” Foggo, then executive director of the CIA, wrote in an e-mail that Rodriguez thought “the heat from destroying is nothing compared with what it would be if the tapes ever got into public domain—he said that out of context they would make us look terrible; it would be ‘devastating’ to us.”

(25.08.2009) Unterstützt bei ihren Folterungen wurde die CIA durch angeheuerte Firmen wie “Mitchell, Jessen & Associates”. Die Betreiber der Firma, die ex-Militär-Psychologen James Mitchell und Bruce Jessen, hatten für die CIA-Verhöre Techniken namens “Theorien der gelernten Hilflosigkeit” empfohlen, welche sie durch den Missbrauch von Hunden entwickelt hatten. Die Firma umfasste im Jahre 2007 einhundertzwanzig “Mitarbeiter” und soll die brutalsten Verhörmethoden entworfen haben. Der Vertrag mit den Folterpsychologen wurde von der Obama-Regierung verlängert, noch Wochen nach dem Amtsantritt. CIA-Chef Leon Panetta hatte sich explizit zu dieser Firma geäussert:

“Wir haben auch Geld in dem Deal gespart.”

„Das ist eine geschmacklose Art, die Männer und Frauen zu behandeln, die ihr Leben und ihre Sicherheit riskiert haben, um die Vereinigten Staaten zu schützen“, so Mitchell. Die Demokraten hätten „eine Agenda, sie wollen die Arbeit verunglimpfen, die Amerika sicher gemacht hat“.

Die Bundesregierung will laut einem Bericht der „Bild am Sonntag“ das Land bei der Anschaffung der Kriegsschiffe finanziell unterstützen. Das geht der Zeitung zufolge aus einem als geheim eingestuften Dokument hervor, das der Staatssekretär im Bundesfinanzministerium, Steffen Kampeter (CDU), an die Vorsitzende des Haushaltsausschusses, Gesine Lötzsch (Linke), geschickt haben soll.

Germany plans to finance part of the cost of four new corvette warships for the Israeli navy made by German firm Thyssen Krupp under a deal struck with the Jewish state in November, the government said on Monday.

In July, as Israel began its massive assault on Gaza, Ahmed published a post revealing a plausible motivation – Gaza’s natural gas reserves – for Israel’s endless belligerence towards the enclave’s Hamas government. (The story had until then been confined to minor and academic publications, including my own contribution here.) Israel wanted to keep control over large gas reserves in Gaza’s waters so that it could deny Hamas a resource that would have bought it influence with other major players in the region, not least Egypt.

This story should be at the centre of the coverage of Gaza, and of criticism of the west’s interference, including by the UK’s own war criminal Tony Blair, who has conspired in the west’s plot to deny the people of Gaza their rightful bounty. But the Guardian, like other media, have ignored the story.

Lapid was also asked about his political agenda, and said that in his view, the State of Israel can not afford to accommodate 4 million Palestinian Arabs in a one-state solution.

He blamed left-wing parties for placing the blame for failed peace talks only on Israel, but also attacked the right-wing camp for labeling them as useless.
