On Thursday, August 1, NewsWhip picked up sharing data for 133,612 articles, the highest number recorded for the month. By contrast, just two days later on Saturday August 3, we recorded data for 65,185 articles. Every single interaction measured by NewsWhip – comments, likes, shares and tweets – falls significantly from Friday evening until Sunday night. Although it already made sense, our graph shows beyond contest that stories with viral potential will reach a much wider audience if published mid-week.
