Why Turkey is right for hitting the EU

Turkey experienced its gravest coup attempt on July 15, with the Gülenist plotters hitting the Turkish parliament, main state premises, raiding state and private media outlets and worst, opening fire on civilians, killing around 250 persons. Turkey could barely escape the seizure of power by this group, whose estimated plans were to turn the country into a new Syria by provoking armed clashes between the police and the army and within the army itself.

Pentagon says US general‘s comments on coup attempt ‚misunderstood‘

The head of U.S. Central Command was misunderstood when he commented about a recent coup attempt in Turkey, the Pentagon said on July 29.

“Any reports that suggest Gen. [Joseph] Votel expressed support in any fashion for the actions of Turkish military officers who undertook illegal military action against the Turkish government are factually inaccurate,” Pentagon spokesman Peter Cook said during a press briefing, the state-Run Anadolu Agency reported.

The Guardian’s master of cognitive dissonance

Poets of emotion are to be found on the left. But for decades they have been “kettled” into the side alleys of the media landscape by enforcers of the corporate status quo like the Guardian. They are slowly making their voices heard through social media. They are creating a quiet political revolution. And Freedland and his ilk are doing everything in their power to try to stop them.

Democratic National Committee Claims That Wikileaks Has ‚Malware Embedded Throughout The Site‘

We‘ve long been supporters of the concept of Wikileaks around here, though we‘ve had some concerns about some of the decisions it has made. Generally speaking, though, we find the accusations and conspiracy theories around Wikileaks to be somewhat ridiculous. The latest comes buried in a Politico article about the massive amount of dysfunction within the Democratic National Committee. Apparently since Wikileaks released a bunch of DNC emails, leading to chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz stepping down, it has freed up a bunch of people to bitch and whine about her (lack of) leadership and what a mess the whole DNC has been recently.

But, buried deep within that article is this wacky tidbit:

China asks S.Sudan to punish those responsible for Chinese peacekeeper deaths

Two Chinese peacekeepers were killed and several others injured by a mortar shell earlier this month during fighting between followers of President Salva Kiir and Riek Machar, the former rebel leader who became vice president under a deal to end the civil war.
During that time personnel of the United Nations Mission to South Sudan (UNMISS) also came under attack.

Security Researchers Sued For Exposing Internet Filtering Company‘s Sale Of Censorship Software To Blacklisted Country

Nothing says „Please stop keep talking about the bad stuff we do“ quite like a bogus defamation lawsuit. Citizen Lab, which has reported on a great number of tech companies that are less than discriminating in their selection of customers (think Hacking Team), has been served with a lawsuit by a purveyor of internet censorship software.

Like a Greek tragedy “Deus ex machina”, Schaeuble rescues Spain & Portugal with his double standards

We always knew that the problem of German finance Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble with Greece was the left-wing government SYRIZA and that his former Greek counterpart Yanis Varoufakis was the red cloth in front of the eyes of a raging bull.

Now it is confirmed. the Austerity-obsessed German minister practically ‘rescued’ Spain and Portugal and furthermore he lobbied that the two south-European countries will not get fined for failing to meet EU’s budget deficit caps.
