Mit 25 zu 20 Stimmen beschlossen CDU, SPD, Freie Wähler und zwei Mitglieder der Grünen heute die Rückkehr zu Microsoft.

Intelligence officials: We knew attack in Benghazi was terrorist act from beginning

Officials said that although there was no question that the attack was terrorism, they did not know whether they were spontaneous or planned long in advance. They also did not have the suspects’ identities.

Patrick Leahy Ready To Cave To Law Enforcement: Has ECPA Reform Amendment To Include Loopholes For Warrantless Spying

Leahy‘s reform was pretty straightforward: it basically said that if the government wants to see your electronic info, it needs a warrant. This seems completely reasonable and something that probably should be considered the law already if the 4th Amendment were respected. Of course, almost immediately after he introduced his reform package, we noted that the law enforcement community had freaked out over the bill, saying that if law enforcement had to actually, you know, justify its activities to a judge, it might have „adverse impact“ on investigations (you know, like reading the love letters of generals).

Trading Away our Digital Rights: More Nations Join TPP as the Next Round of Negotiations Approach

The next round of Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) agreement negotiations will take place from December 3-12 in Auckland, New Zealand, and it will be done with the same level of secrecy as the last 14 rounds. And like all of the previous rounds of talks, it will take place in a luxury venue, only this time in a high-end casino, that itself is embroiled in its own controversy over corrupt dealings.

National Coordination Body for Democratic Change in Syria

The Coordination Committee is largely based inside Syria, and was formed at a congress in Damascus. It gathers most of the political parties of the National Democratic Rally, formerly Syria‘s main secular opposition coalition, but also other organizations. It has a generally secular membership, although not exclusively so. Most member organizations have a leftist profile, while some are also strongly Arab Nationalist or Kurdish Nationalist.

The Coordination Committee is sometimes described as more moderate in its opposition strategy than the Syrian National Council, but it does call for the dismantlement of the Syrian dictatorship and the removal of Bashar al-Assad as president. It is generally strongly opposed to foreign intervention.
