Before leaving the South American city, Goldberg was accused of conspiring against the government of Evo Morales and declared a “persona non grata” by the state. Washington has denied all conspiracy allegations and has not commented on the pending nomination. However, Goldberg will have to be approved by both the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Upper House and by the plenary.
