• Shoot-out and escape: Officers responded to a shooting at Hoffman’s address around 2 a.m. local time and were still investigating when, about an hour and a half later, officers who went to check on Hortman found a man coming out of her house. The gunman exchanged fire with officers and escaped.
• Stun gun and law enforcement gear: The suspect was dressed like a police officer when he came out of Hortman’s home and was driving a vehicle that looked like a patrol car. He was wearing “a vest, with Taser, other equipment,” Brooklyn Park police chief Mark Bruley said Saturday during a news conference.
• What we know about the suspect: Boelter served on a state board with Hoffman. In 2019, Walz put him on the Governor’s Workforce Development Board, a group of business owners who recommend policies to the state government.
