It also notes the International Court of Justice’s advisory opinion that Israel’s occupation of the Palestinian land is unlawful and must end as soon as possible, given its serious repercussions on the Palestinian people’s ability to exercise their right to self-determination, as guaranteed under the UN Charter and international law.

Palestine’s Permanent Observer to the United Nations, Riyad Mansour, welcomed the resolution and the overwhelming support it received, thanking the countries that voted in favor and underscoring the broad international consensus on the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination.
