Trump is set to sign the orders Thursday afternoon during a White House event featuring steel and aluminum workers.

„We have to protect and build our steel and aluminum industries,“ he tweeted.

The president has called for a 25 percent tariff on imported steel and a 10 percent levy on imported aluminum. Although Trump initially wanted to apply the tariffs worldwide, carve-outs may be added for Canada, Mexico, and other countries.
