Sino-Iranian trade jumped tenfold in ten years, going from US$ 2.5 billion in 2000 to US$ 29.3 billion last year. Iran is now China’s second trading partner after the European Union. This was made possible by sanctions against Iran, which have created more opportunities for trade with China.
