In its plenary vote on Friday 31 July, the parliament of Cyprus decided not to ratify the EU-Canada Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA). 37 MPs voted against and 18 voted for ratification, with no abstentions, according to the Cypriot media.
The EU-Canada CETA is designed to facilitate the export of goods and services. It provisionally entered into force in September 2017, but to be fully valid it must be ratified by all EU countries.
