Wer Freunde hat wie die „Freunde Syriens“, braucht keine Feinde mehr. Auch nach der Befreiung Aleppos fließen westliche Hilfsmittel nur an die Islamisten. An den einfachen Menschen der Stadt, die sich ihre Normalität zurückerkämpfen, haben sie kein Interesse.

Israel and Gaza‘s ruling Hamas agreed to an open-ended ceasefire on August 26 after seven weeks of fighting – an uneasy deal that halted the Protective Edge operation, with more than 2,200 killed.

The IDF (Israeli Defense Forces) began their current operation against Hamas after three teens were kidnapped and killed. The military op has already claimed over 1,500 civilian lives in Gaza.

Diese Äußerungen sind eine Kehrtwende gegenüber der bisherigen Haltung Washingtons, das sich zumindest nominell in Bezug auf die Gebietsstreitigkeiten neutral verhalten hatte, zugleich jedoch sein „nationales Interesse“ an der freien Schifffahrt im Südchinesischen Meer betonte. Unter der Obama-Regierung schickte die US-Navy dreimal provokativ Lenkwaffenzerstörer in die Zwölf-Meilen-Zone um kleine chinesische Inseln.

Die Trump-Regierung stellt jetzt direkt die Kontrolle Chinas über diese Inseln in Frage. Auf die Frage, wie die USA ihre Drohung, China den Zugang zu den Inseln zu verwehren, umsetzen wolle, sagte Spider, darüber werde man genauere Auskünfte geben, wenn sich die Lage weiterentwickle.

Experts had initially thought Tillerson might have misspoken, but Spicer‘s remarks appeared to raise the likelihood that the administration was indeed considering blocking China‘s access to its new islands in the Spratlys.
