On 13 September 2014, the United States appointed General Allen as Special Presidential Envoy for the Global Coalition to Counter ISIL (Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant).

Deputy PM dismisses potential PKK cease-fire, calls it electoral ’tactic’
(9.Oktober) Turkish interim Deputy Prime Minister Yalçın Akdoğan has dismissed the prospect of a Kurdistan Workers‘ Party (PKK) declaration of a cease-fire as a „tactic“ of the terrorist organization ahead of a Nov. 1 snap election, reiterating government demands that PKK terrorists lay down their arms and leave Turkey.
