Greece’s powerful unions of public and private sector -ADEDY and GSEE – were quick to respond to the plans of Greek government to have the Pensions Reform and the new Taxation system voted in the Parliament on Sunday: they declared a 48-hour strike on Friday and Saturday, May 6-7, 2016. As some of the unions had also decided to celebrate the “Worker’s May 1st” on upcoming Sunday (May 8th), some retailers’ shops will be closed, although they were supposed to be open amid the Spring Sales.
