The US and Romania signed an agreement Tuesday to base part of a missile defence system in the eastern European nation.

US President Barack Obama congratulated his Romanian counterpart Traian Basescu on the agreement, ‚which exemplifies the president‘s commitment to strengthening NATO and ensuring allies have the capabilities to meet 21st century threats,‘ the White House said.
