(23.Juni) There is little doubt that Macri’s party will win the race in Buenos Aires City, where only deputies are going to be elected, as well as in 15 out of the 23 provinces nationwide. Regarding the other most populous constituencies, the result in Santa Fe remains open while in Córdoba, the main contest will take place between the Let’s Change coalition and the centre-right Peronist front led by former governor José Manuel de la Sota, who has excellent ties with the Pink House.
Given that Peronism combines clear opposition stances — with the Kirchnerites and their non-Peronist allies turning sharply to the left — with conservatives considered allies of the national government, like Salta Governor Juan Manuel Urtubey and other leaders somewhere in between, it appears to be almost impossible for a single political front to muster more votes than Let’s Change, which was registered on June 19 in every district save its BA City birthplace.
