Jeremy Corbyn‘s job is safe for now after Labour avoided major losses in England in the first election test of his leadership.

With 78 out of 124 English council elections declared, the party had lost control of just one authority – in Dudley.

But critics say that Mr Corbyn‘s election campaign is a failure because he has failed to take advantage of the Tory civil war over Europe.
