Consultations underway to get waiver on sanctions for inter-Korean liaison office

South Korea earlier asked for the U.N. to consider exemptions from sanctions as the two Koreas are working to open the liaison office in the North‘s border town of Kaesong within this month.

The waiver request is intended to address possible problems that could arise in the process of the operation of the office such as fuel supply to generate electricity for people and facilities there.
