Fifteen academics who signed a recent critical declaration calling for an end to violence in Turkey‘s Kurdish majority Southeast were detained in the western province of İzmit, and three others were detained in another western province, Bursa, on Friday, only days after President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan threatened the statement‘s signatories.
