United Airlines flight UA958 made the emergency stop at Goose Bay, which was built in the 1941 during WWII, three hours into the flight due to a ‚maintenance issue‘.
It had set off from Chicago O‘Hare International Airport shortly before 5.30pm on Friday – the plane was already delayed two hours – and was supposed to arrive at 5.45am at Heathrow Airport on Saturday.
Instead the jet touched down in Canada at 11.33pm local time on Friday night and passengers were ferried to the barracks on buses.
