After US President Barack Obama called Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and urged him to take additional steps to de-escalate tensions with Iraq by continuing to withdraw Turkish troops, Turkey acknowledged there had been a „miscommunication“ with Iraq over a deployment of Turkish troops to the Bashiqa camp in northern Iraq and said it would continue to move its troops out of Nineveh province.
