The Harrier squadron, VMA-223, flew 4,100 combat flight hours and dropped 667 bombs on enemy targets. The reinforced infantry battalion was used to provide security at two bases in Iraq and support advisers assisting the Iraqi defense force. But an infantry company was reined at all times to provide a crisis-response force.
