South Korean Foreign Minister cancels Japan trip over Yasukuni Shrine controversy

Just a day after reports of a series of visits by Japan Cabinent members to the Yasukuni war shrine, South Korea’s foreign minister Yun Byung-se has canceled his trip to Japan and the scheduled bilateral talks with his Japanese counterpart Fumio Kishida. The war shrine, which is a monument to Japan’s 2.5 million war dead, has long been a source of controversy between Japan and its neighbors whom they colonized during World War II.
