Competition gets under way at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games on Saturday, with Rosa Khutor Extreme Park providing the setting for what promises to be an exciting debut for slopestyle, the all-new snowboard event, with the men going for gold.

Next on the menu will be the women’s 15km cross-country pursuit, followed by the men’s 5,000m speed skating final at the Adler Arena. In the evening the spotlight will fall on biathlon and the men’s 10km sprint, with the women’s moguls bringing the day to a close. Also on the schedule on the opening day are women’s ice hockey, the brand new figure skating team event, ski jumping and the men’s luge
