The leader of Jaish al-Islam, which is a Saudi-backed Sunni opposition group operating in southern Syria and Damascus, openly visited Turkey on 17 April.

The visit of Zahran Alloush is the latest indicator that Saudi Arabia is increasing its efforts to co-ordinate Syria‘s fragmented Syrian opposition groups to counter the Islamic State and the Iranian-backed Assad government.
