The group gathered in front of the local police station around 9 p.m., local time. They set up candles on the ground, forming French words for „opposition to violence“ and Chinese characters for „dying with injustice unredressed,“ before reportedly attacking police, including throwing projectiles.

Witnesses say police used batons and tear gas to break up the group.
