Peru: 72-hour Strike Started With Marches Against Mine Project

The latest polls show that 80 percent of Islay residents oppose the Tia Maria mine project and are suspicious of both Southern Copper Corporation and the government.

More than 1,500 residents of various districts of the Arequipa province, started a three-days mobilization against the Tia Maria mining project on Wednesday.

The pacific march gathered in the center of Cocachara city, where a significant police cordon of 500 officials was deployed.
