One man‘s war against corruption in Guatemala

He was born in 1968 in Guatemala City to an engineer father and a mother who worked for the U.S. Peace Corps.

At the time, his country was embroiled in what would become a bloody civil war, sparked by a CIA-backed coup that toppled democratically elected President Jacobo Árbenz in 1954. A leftist guerrilla movement emerged, and the ensuing hostilities continued for more than three decades.
