President Obama last night urged Egypt’s military rulers to quit power ‘immediately’ on the biggest day of protest yet in Cairo.

The dramatic White House intervention brought cheers from the tens of thousands thronging iconic Tahrir Square, and came after a week of violence which has seen at least 41 people killed.
