When the realization that signing Association Treaty will be highly disadvantageous for Ukraine came to the minds of the top Ukrainian officials the public opinion was already extremely agitated and the media were locked in the vicious circle of extreme pro-EU and anti-Russian propaganda. So, to a certain extent, Yanukovich was personally responsible for his own removing from power. And, when the time came, the real advantages of Russian loan bailout and closer economic relations with Russia were very hard to promote among the very skeptical and hostile population in Western and Central Ukraine.
