Well, no thanks. I will not mortgage my future and that of my children for the sake of a struggle for Israel’s future. Despair is indeed the reason I left Israel. I despaired of the sense of no-exit, of a closed and confining future, of the rolling catastrophe, the brainwashing, the media spin and the deception of the masses.
All that remains is a negation of others. I despaired of the government’s cynicism and the rampant corruption. I despaired of the hatred directed at me and others like me. I mainly despaired of feeling despair. Emigrating to Berlin is liberation from this despair, or rather a choice to search for such freedom.
