France cancels 40% of flights due to strike

The SNCTA demands officials hold talks with union representatives over working conditions and consider a decline in the retirement age currently set at 59 years. The 4,000-strong air traffic controllers’ union says on its blog that the Directorate General of Civil Aviation and the government have been “deaf” to their requests so far. The SNCTA has threatened to take part in two more instances of industrial action on April 16 to 18 and April 29 to May 2 if their demands are not met by the authorities until then.
