BEIRUT – A fragile ceasefire took hold Tuesday in Ain al-Hilweh after Islamists launched a new offensive the day before, prompting an outflow of civilians from the Palestinian camp as the sounds of fighting reverberated in nearby Sidon.
Prior to the imposition of the ceasefire, the latest round of fighting between the secular Fatah Movement and the Islamist Jund al-Sham has left at least two people dead.
