In March 2003, Aafia Siddiqui and her three children (six-year-old Ahmad, four-year-old Mariam and six-months-old Suleman) where kidnapped by authorities in Karachi, Pakistan, while on their way to visit a relative in Islamabad, Pakistan. Pakistani and US media soon reported that Pakistani authorities arrested Aafia and turned her over to US authorities, who said they wanted her for questioning…
The U.S. government is now accusing Aafia of grabbing a U.S. soldier’s rifle and then shooting it at U.S. personnel – all while under detention. While Aafia was shot in the abdomen and recovered after emergency surgery, no U.S. personnel were shot or injured in this alleged altercation. Aafia and her children have suffered unspeakable abuse and need our help to secure her and her children’s freedom.
