US Still Executes Mental Illness Sufferers: Amnesty International

The United States continues to violate international human rights standards by executing people who suffer from mental health problems, the global issues director for the pressure group Amnesty International told RIA Novosti.

„Askari Abdullah Muhammad was executed in Florida on 7 January 2014 for a prison murder committed in 1980. He had a long history of serious mental illness, including diagnoses of paranoid schizophrenia,“ Amnesty International‘s Audrey Gaughran said on Friday.
