(18. September) Senator Markey suggested that Turkey has become a destination for smuggled oil, which has now become the lifeblood of the terrorist group. He also admitted that the US is unsure how to persuade Turkey to close the smuggling route.

“Turkey understands the challenges… and will have to make some decisions in the days ahead,” said Kerry, adding that he would have to talk with Markey behind closed doors in order to give him more details on the issue.
